Are Kelowna wineries open in the winter?

Visiting Kelowna wineries in the winter

Kelowna wineries have specific winter hours that should be noted! With most BC wineries open in January and February and smaller wineries closing by November, there is still plenty of time to enjoy local wine tasting in Kelowna during the winter months. Most wineries are open for tasting from May to October, but some smaller wineries only offer tastings by appointment year round.

Due to the shorter daylight hours, wineries open later and close earlier in the winter. We recommend going after lunch and before dinner. There will be more staff available to serve you at the wineries during those times. If you want to go on a guided tour, there are several options available during the winter. Red Dog Wine Tours offers half-day tours of Kelowna and its surrounding wineries, taking in all of the Okanagan’s spectacular views. If you prefer to explore on your own, do a   self-guided tour.

Red Dog Wine tours large and small tour vans

For a cozy winter wine tasting experience, private tours are the best option. These exclusive options carry less people and usually involve in transportation with smaller vehicles than public tour vans – making for an intimate toasting get-together. For those looking for more price efficient excursions however, large group outings during May through Fall provide more opportunities at cost savings; as the expense can be divided among many guests!

You may be looking for a Spring Wine Tour

If you’re looking for a wine tour in March, April, or May, consider a Spring Wine tour. One reason to go on a wine tour in the spring is to witness the rebirth of the vineyards as they come back to life after the winter months. With vibrant green hues from new growth, it’s no surprise that spring is one of the best times to enjoy the valley’s breathtaking views. For any aspiring oenophile, the sights and smells of fresh flowers and blooming fruit are ideal.
