Kelowna’s bright summers open the door to endless outdoor activities—from early tee times and morning walks to single-track mountain biking. Hot, lazy days pair perfectly with lake adventures. Okanagan Lake stretches 135 km (84 mi) from Vernon to Penticton, with downtown Kelowna at its heart offering every watersport imaginable.
Swim and sunbathe at one of the area’s 30+ beaches. Paddle the new 27-km Kelowna Paddle Trail by kayak, canoe, stand-up paddleboard, or pedal boat. Okanagan Beach Rentals operates from four locations: Tugboat Bay Beach (downtown), Rotary Beach and Gyro Beach (Pandosy/Mission), and Bear Creek Provincial Park (West Kelowna). The Kelowna Yacht Club near the Downtown Marina offers private sailing charters or group boat/yacht tours just steps from hotels and the Cultural District. For adrenaline seekers, try flyboarding, parasailing, or jet skiing.
By summer, spring fruit blossoms have turned into delicious cherries, apricots, peaches, nectarines, and grapes. Join a wine tour to sample varietals from Chardonnay to Cabernet Franc, or visit a u-pick farm to harvest seasonal fruit straight from the tree. Summer is also peak season for culture: Parks Alive! brings live music across genres to local parks and public spaces. Enjoy long-table dinners, outdoor concerts, or plays at wineries.
