How much wine do you get tasting wine?

BC wineries are required to serve no more than 5 ounces per person in a single tasting. You taste 4 or 5 wines and consume a minimum of 15 ml (about a tablespoon or 1/2 ounce) of each wine, typically it is closer to 1 ounce.  With four samples, that is at least ½ a glass of wine per person, per winery. You can often choose to try extra wines that are not on the tasting menu but may be asked to pay extra. If you are on a guided wine tour you will visit from 3 to 5 wineries.
It is OK to spit. A wine tour is an excellent opportunity to try and find some wines to add to your collection so you can enjoy the consumption of them later. Too much consumption can lead to impaired judgement. A wine tour should not significantly impair most people but it is wise to plan from the beginning.
