Does Red Dog Wine Tours Operate Year-Round?
Red Dog Wine Tours is available year-round for questions and tour planning, but our regular guided wine tours operate seasonally, from early May through the end of October.
May through October is the main wine-tour season in Kelowna and the Okanagan. The vineyards are active, wineries are operating at their fullest, and there is plenty to see and do along the wine routes.
Why don’t Red Dog tours operate in winter?
Our guided tours are designed around the seasonal wine-tour experience. From May through October, the wineries we work with have their regular tasting-room schedules, and the wine country is at its most active.
- Spring and early summer bring growing vineyards, longer days and the beginning of the main tourism season.
- Summer offers warm weather, vineyard views and outdoor winery patios.
- September and October bring harvest activity and a particularly interesting time to visit wine country.
Are Kelowna wineries open in winter?
Yes. Many Kelowna wineries remain open during the winter. However, winter hours can be reduced, some smaller wineries may close temporarily or operate by appointment, and the selection of wineries available for a tour is more limited than during the main season.
If you’re visiting Kelowna during the winter and want to visit wineries, our sister site, Kelowna Wine Culture, has a useful guide to Kelowna wineries’ winter hours and what’s open.
Can you help me plan a wine visit outside your tour season?
Yes. Even though our regular guided tours aren’t operating in the winter, we’re available to answer questions and help you plan for the upcoming season.
If you’re planning a visit for May through October, you can book your Red Dog wine tour online once your dates are available.
